Oh dear, what seemed like light-hearted banter yesterday has turned rather serious overnight.

Russy is now reportedly wanted by the police after he threw a paparazzo’s phone through a window. Crikey.

According to TMZ, the New Orleans police have issued a misdemeanour warrant for the comedian’s arrest on Wednesday.

Yesterday, we told you how Russell offered an excuse for what happened, saying he was honouring Steve Jobs. He tweeted: Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.'

He’s probs not laughing so much now at his witty tweet.

The paparazzo told the police that he was with a group of other photographers when he began to take pictures of the actor with his iPhone from his car.

He then claims Russell got rather peed off, grabbed his phone and threw it through the window of a local law firm.

A man who was inside the building at the time, said Brand’s people tried to smooth things over after the incident, but clearly it was to no avail.

Russell’s representative acknowledged he had thrown the phone and said that he would pay for the repair of the window. He is also believed to have returned the phone to the paparazzo after the police had arrived.

And so the story of the phone chucking continues…
