Are you ready for an onslaught of fahbulous faux fur, sequins and man-made fabrics? It's time to have a goosey gander through the outfits from last night's National Television Awards...
Celebrities attending the NTAs last night were divided into very distinct camps: the dark and glam, blushing bride-a-likes, the rule breakers, the perfectly pretty and...erm, the what-the-heck-is-that!
Gorgeous Holly Willoughby slipped into a flattering black gown for the event. We love the statement red lips but can't help feeling a little disappointed by how safe Holls played it. Her figure and glamorous hair 'do look fab, though.
Dancing On Ice star Heidi Range showed off her new size 6 frame in a sweeping fishtail number with a bizarre chain strap feature. That chain actually looks like it's holding her boobies up! Our roving heat reporter told us that Heidi had really bad skin up close. Yikes. Perhaps all of this DOI training is taking its toll...
Tess Daly got her pins out in a thigh split frock teamed with chucky gold jewellery. We don't mind the gold cuff but that neck piece looks a bit torturous to us.
Corrie star Alison King went typically soapstar-at-an-award-'do in her blue sequinned gown. Love the glossy curls, Al!

Only yesterday afternoon, Kate Moss was strutting her stuff around in London for the Mango new campaign launch. Now she's in Paris enjoying the fun and frolics of fashion week.
Kate headed to the Prada party last night wearing a fab LBD and ankle-strap heels, showing of her tanned pins. With her blonde locks curled into loose mermaid waves, the model protected herself from the rain with a giant furry coat. We'd love to say Mossy's cosy coat is faux but somehow we don't think it is...
What do you think of Kate's Parisian party look, heatworlders?

Sinead O'Connor has announced on Twitter that her on/off husband Barry Herridge is moving back in with her.
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer has taken to her account on the social networking site several times in recent weeks to keep fans updated with her tumultuous relationship with her therapist beau.
And it seems the pair could be putting their very public ups-and-downs behind them once and for all now Harry is due to return to their marital home this evening.
The Irish singer said this morning: 'Yay. My sweet husband is coming home. Very happy girl. Must get pretty-fied by 8pm. Thank u God. Me love me sweet husband so bad. Yay!! :)'
Before adding: 'Sorry if too much info or too personal.. Just.. Me so happy. Wus sad without him. Love him rotten bad. So me all happy now.. Hurray!!!'
The mother-of-four married Barry in Las Vegas on December 8 before announcing their split just two weeks later on Christmas Eve.
And although the pair have indulged in 'mad love-making' sessions of late, Sinead has previously blamed the demise of her fourth marriage on the media, blaming the press for trying to destroy her partner's career.
She ranted on Twitter earlier in the week: 'Regarding my sweet husband. Nothing I did it didn't do deserved him to be set upon by media trying to destroy his career.
'NOTHING I ever did it didn't do deserved my innocent husband to be set upon and u are animals and I want u to know u have taken the very heart of me because I loved that man.'
'U chose from ur own evil hearts to hurt a butterfly.. Which was my husband'
The couple met in September last year when told her online fans she was 'sex-starved' and asked for offers, to which he replied.

Vanessa Paradis appeared to quash rumours surrounding her and Johnny Depp's relationship as she played it very coy while stepping out alone on the red carpet for her new film.
Though her solo appearance would lead to imply the speculation surrounding the couple, who have been together for 14 years, are separating, she hinted that the rumours should not be believed.
Speaking on the red carpet of her new film Café de Flore in Paris, she played her own game as she refused to confirm or deny the reports while speaking to French radio station Europe 1.
She said: 'You know, when I eat three peas, I'm pregnant. When I visit a city, I'm buying a house.
'In the winter I separate, in the summer I marry. It's been fifteen years since I've been getting married every year. In addition I have to answer all these rumours!'
It is thought Depp was at home in Los Angeles during the premiere with the couple's two children Lily-Rose, 12, and Jack, nine.
Despite having to face reporters' questions, although they had apparently been instructed by Paradis' representative 'not to ask personal questions', the 39-year-old actress put on a brave face as she made her way down the red carpet.
It was clear, in light of all the gossip around her personal life, she had decided she wasn't about to be taken for a ride as her sharp attire showed she meant business.
Dressed head-to-toe in masculine gear, Vanessa looked sharp in fitted red leather trousers, a low-cut black tuxedo jacket and a black tie loosely hanging around her neck.
Finishing off her "I mean business" look, Vanessa wore a thick layer of black eye-liner around her emerald-green eyes and lashings of bold red lipstick.
Though her spirits might not have been at their peak, she made sure not to disappoint her fans as she signed autographs outside the cinema.
Rumours started to mount the Hollywood couple's romance was in danger weeks ago when it emerged they had apparently been 'living separate lives'.
Depp only served to fuel the gossip when he arrived at the Golden Globe awards on his own earlier this month.

Madonna has broken down in tears of exhaustion after admitting the strain of her live comeback next month has got the better of her.
The steely pop queen cracked as she spoke about her mother while promoting new flick W.E. in New York.
‘I’m sorry if I cry. I’m just so exhausted from Super Bowl rehearsals,’ she said during the screening at the city’s Ziegfeld Theatre.
Seemingly as shocked as everyone else by her waterworks, Madge admitted: ‘I’m not usually a very sentimental person. Don’t hold it against me.’
Her tears flowed as she remembered her late mother, Madonna Louise, who died from breast cancer at the age of 30 in 1963.
‘This movie is about the journey of a woman’s soul. I want to thank my mother,’ she sputtered, pausing for a moment before adding, ‘for giving me my life.’
Madonna revealed she will be using pom-poms in a cheerleader-themed performance when she hits the stage at half-time of the American football final in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 5.
Set to be watched by 162million people, the superstar added: ‘I have eight minutes to set up my stage, 12 minutes to put on the greatest show on Earth and seven minutes to take it down so the football field is clean for the second half.
‘That’s the challenge. How do you do that? I wanted to have 100 drummers come from the ceiling.’
The singer remained coy over rumours that she will be joined by Nicki Minaj and M.I.A, who feature on her new single, Give Me All Your Luvin.
Happy to tease, the 53-year-old said: ‘I am not saying “Yes” and I am not saying “No”.’
The track is an appetiser to her first album in four years, called M.D.N.A.
Madge dragged her 24-year-old toy boy, Brahim Zaibat, out for the first time publicly for her blubbing film night in the Big Apple this week.

Claims Whitney Houston is broke after blowing a $100million fortune have been slammed as 'ridiculous and not true'.
She has even been forced to borrow cash to keep the wolves from the door, according to the Radar Online website.
‘Whitney’s fortune is gone,’ an insider claimed, adding that the legendary pop singer was being financially supported by her record label.
'Music industry heavy hitters are supporting her and her label is fronting her cash against her next album, but no one knows when that will be released,' the source said.
‘She might be homeless if not for people saving her. She is broke as a joke,' added the insider, claiming that the star had called someone and asked to borrow $100.
But a spokesman for the 48-year-old singer who made a wobbly comeback in 2010 said the claims were ‘ridiculous and not true’.
'She stars in SPARKLE out in August which she also Exec produced. She just wrapped the film,' the spokesman told the Mail Online.

Russell Brand is set to make his first public appearance since announcing his divorce from Katy Perry at The Secret Policeman's Ball in New York City this March.
The British comedian, who filed for divorced from the Teenage Dream singer in December last year, is to add some comedic value at the event, to be held at Radio City Music Hall on March 4.
It will be the 36-year-old's first official public appearance since revealing his new single status - and also marks his return to the US.
Earlier this month it was reported he has just splashed out on a £1.2million luxury Hollywood Hills bachelor pad, complete with swimming pools, stunning views and Jacuzzis in every bathroom.
The house is in the same neighbourhood as his and Katy's marital home.
At the start of the month he had a removal van take his possessions to his new place to avoid any awkward meetings.
Though the pair may be divorcing, this extravagant purchase - as well as choosing US soil to mark his return - makes it clear Russell isn't about to give up his Los Angeles lifestyle, despite leaving his American wife.
He arrived in LA for the first time since their separation nearly two weeks ago for a make-or-break meeting with Katy, but when she was seen jetting out of the sunshine state on her way to Bangkok, speculation arose they didn't get time to talk.
Brand has put on a brave face since the split, having been seen numerous times shopping in London.
And last week, he was seen sporting a 'Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll' t-shirt - ironic since he's been tee-total for ten years.
Katy, on the other hand, has gone down a different route to cope with their split, throwing herself into work.
As well as filming a commercial for Adidas, she's also returned to her California Dreams tour in Asia after her Christmas break.
Katy further moved to show she's over Russell by unfollowing him on her Twitter page, while he still remains a follower of hers.
And last week, in what appears to be an attempt to paint the message loud and clear to Brand, she puckered up to a male fan on stage in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Telling the audience she was 'feeling really sexy tonight' and on the look out for a new man, she selected a fella from the crowd before pulling him on stage and planting a kiss on his cheek.
Perhaps Russell will take a leaf out of her book and pucker up to a member of the audience at the Secret Policeman's Ball?
This won't be Brand's first time at the event, which is being held in New York City for the first time this year, as he also appeared at the last bash when it was held in London in 2008.
Other acts set to join Russell on stage and help entertain an American audience at the British-based music and comedy festival include Coldplay, John Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Mumford & Sons.

Demi Moore has checked herself into hospital to recover from stress and exhaustion following the breakdown of her marriage to Ashton Kutcher, it has been reported.
The Ghost star is believed to have been rushed to hospital in an ambulance following a 911 call from her Los Angeles home at 10.45pm on Monday, according to TMZ.
She was apparently with a friend when she started shaking and E! news report she was 'acting like she was suffering from a seizure'.
Her spokesman released a statement claiming Moore admitted herself to the hospital to recover from the stresses in her life at the moment.
The statement read: 'Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health.
'She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.'
US gossip site TMZ claims substance abuse was the cause for Demi's sudden rush to hospital but the 49-year-old's representatives declined to comment.
Rumours have also surfaced that the mum-of-three has now pulled out of Lovelace, a film about porn star Linda Lovelace.
Moore filed for divorced from Ashton Kutcher, who she was married to for six years, in November 2011.
In a statement at the time, she said: 'It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton.
'As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.'
Though it's clear she's still struggling with the breakdown of their relationship, Ashton, 33, seems to have already moved on after speculation surrounding his friendship with screenwriter Lorene Scafaria emerged.
The pair have been spotted out on numerous occasions and are believed to have spent Christmas together in Europe.

EVEN before you see her whopping diamond ring, it's pretty obvious she's a newly-engaged lady.
Drew Barrymore was every inch the glowing bride-to-be as she appeared on a US chat show yesterday, gushing about her new fiance Will Koppelman.
The actress, who announced earlier this year that she's planning to walk down the aisle for the third time, said she's not made any wedding plans yet as she's still "daydreaming" about the proposal.
Speaking on Good Morning America, the 36-year-old couldn't stop smiling as she showed off her huge engagement ring, explaining: "I think everyone expects you to kind of know right away what the plans are.

"I'm like, oh goodness, it just happened a month ago! Do I have it together or is it OK to keep daydreaming?"
Looking laid-back and chic in a striped top, jeans and lace-up boots, Drew said the pair are still trying to figure out their wedding plans - but added that it's a "really positive" time for them both.
The Going The Distance star has had a series of high-profile romances, including an on-off relationship with her former co-star Justin Long.
She wed Jeremy Thomas in March 1994 but they split after just one month, and she later tied the knot with Tom Green in 2001.

Madonna is one celeb’ who’s not scared to make a style statement – or five – and as such her WOW W.E New York premiere dress came as no surprise. Throw in a new ‘do and you just know Madonna’s on a mission…(for a fashion Oscar?)
The sheer Marchesa puff sleeve LBD (Long Black Dress) was the talk of the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theater (American for theatre) last night - but is it a fashion ‘do or for the love of Kabbalah please don’t?
And what about the HAIR!?
The flamboyant frock features serious amounts of tulle and certainly guaranteed Her Madge a whole lotta attention, perhaps she’s trying to distract fans from the film’s less than buoyant reviews…
Madonna will hear whether her directorial debut W.E is nominated for an Oscar later on today (Tuesday 24th).
Once you’ve got past the sleeves (slash tangled low denier tights) the floor-sweeping gown features intricate black lace detailing that nods to the fash’ packs love affair with lace this season (see Kate Middleton in Temperley and Angelina in Michael Kors for more).
Madonna upped the goth’ ante with black beaded jewellery and stunning barely-there make up.
While M may look like she’s lopped of her locks, it’s more than likely that she’s is merely trying out January’s cheekiest hair trend, the faux bob or FOB (NB we’re acronymphomaniacs) as seen on Taylor Swift too.
FOBs are perfect for those looking to update their ‘do (slash up their column inches) without the commitment and cost of having a hair cut. Nice.
Added to that, her latest hairdo is oh-so Wallis Simpson (fitting for her said film W.E).
Madonna teared up at the premiere, when she dedicated the film to her mother. She said: “If I cry... don't hold it against me. Everyone knows when I'm tired, I cry... So forgive me. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a sentimental person.”
The 53-year-old continued, “Well, the Oscars, the nominations are coming out tomorrow, and fingers crossed, I hope my movie gets nominated for something. I would be really grateful if it did, but if it doesn't, I got the Super Bowl”.
Madonna was joined by W.E co-stars Oscar Isaac, Andrea Riseborough, James D'Arcy and David Harbour. She bought along daughter Lourdes too while Ewan McGregor put a red carpet appearance in too (sidenote: when did he get so HOT!?)
Speaking of hot, what do you make of Madonna’s latest look - is it hot, or not? Vote below:

Seal has revealed that he and Heidi Klum still love each other and are good friends following their separation, making everyone wonder exactly why the Hollywood couple have decided to part ways.
Not only did Seal gush about Heidi on television interview, but he has been snapped wearing his wedding ring while out in LA.
He told Ellen Degeneres: “Yes, I am still wearing my ring. I think it’s just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We have eight years.
“Just because we have decided to separate doesn’t necessarily mean you take off your ring and you’re no longer connected to that person.
“We will be connected in many ways ‘til the rest of our lives…. through our children and also through this tremendous admiration, respect and love that we have for each other.”
The singer is currently promoting his album in the US and gave a number of interviews yesterday following the official announcement of their separation.
Although many thought that Seal would be angry following the split – with Heidi apparently being the one who will file for divorce – the Brit was happy to talk about it and said nothing but lovely things about his estranged supermodel wife.
Seal also chatted to Tavis Smiley on PBS, telling the host that and he and Heidi will remain civil and professional throughout their separation.
He said: “What one has to do in this situation is to remain civil, to retain one's dignity, to be professional, and to understand that we are not the only people on this planet that are going through this.
“Of course it's a difficult situation that we have to handle right now and it's never easy. In terms of our love and respect for each other, that hasn't changed at all.
“Just because you decide to separate, I don't think you all of the sudden stop loving each other. I don't think you all of the sudden stop becoming friends.”
Firstly, it’s all of A sudden. Secondly, why the hell are these two splitting up if they feel this way about each other?
Saying that, Heidi may not feel the same way – according to rumours she decided to end the marriage because Seal had an 'inability to control his temper', which was starting to affect the children. TMZ claimed that she was also sick of his ‘hard partying’.
Seal and Heidi released a joint statement yesterday morning, which said the pair had simply grown apart. It read: “While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate. We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart.
“This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support.
“And for our children's sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”

Adele added another achievement to her ever-expanding book of records as "21" (XL Recordings) returned 2-1 in its first anniversary on the U.K. album chart. Meanwhile, Jessie J started a second week atop the singles chart with "Domino" (Lava/Universal Island).
Adele now moves equal with Queen and Oasis in total career weeks at No. 1 on the album survey, with 21 weeks. 20 of those are with "21," the other with its predecessor "19" in 2008; that debut set moved 23-22 on the new chart. Three tracks from "21" also mark 52 weeks on the singles list this week: "Someone Like You" at No. 43, "Set Fire To The Rain" No. 53 and "Rolling In The Deep" No. 70.
Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Adele Lead 2012 Brit Award Nominations
"21" is now in its fifth separate run at No. 1, but needed to sell just under 21,000 copies last week to return to the summit, which is the lowest total for any artist album so far this century. Its total U.K. sales in a memorable year now stand at 3.855m.
Ed Sheeran's "+" (Asylum/Warner Music) moved 3-2 in the new Official Charts Company data, and Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto" (Parlophone/EMI) 7-3. Only 1500 sales separated the top four titles on the countdown, as Enter Shikari's "A Flash Flood of Colour" (Ambush Reality) mirrored the performance of fellow English rock band the Maccabees' "Given To The Wild" (Fiction/Polydor/Universal) last week, debuting at No. 4 after topping the "midweek" sales chart.
Adele's Ascent in 2011, By the Numbers
Last week's No. 1, Bruno Mars' "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" (Elektra/Warner Music), fell to No. 5. Florence + the Machine's "Ceremonials" (Universal Island) rebounded 21-8, labelmates Rizzle Kicks' "Stereo Typical" 14-9, and Jessie J's "Who You Are" 12-10. The only other newcomer to the top 40 was yet another Island signing, north London rock band Tribes, who entered at No. 20 with their debut album "Baby." On the compilation chart, "Now! That's What I Call Music 80" (EMI TV/Universal Music TV) posted its ninth week at No. 1.
Jessie J's "Domino" sold 64,000 last week to continue its singles reign, up on the previous week's 57,000. Rizzle Kicks' "Mama Do The Hump" (Universal Island) moved up 3-2 (52,000 sales) and "Titanium" (Positiva/Virgin/EMI) by David Guetta featuring Sia 8-3 (48,000). "Antidote" (Virgin/EMI) by Swedish House Mafia vs. Knifeparty opened at No. 4 and English pop hitmaker Pixie Lott's "Kiss The Stars" (Mercury/Universal) jumped 14-8, as her "Young Foolish Happy" album re-entered the top 75 at No. 52. There was a 21-11 climb for Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" (RCA/Sony Music Entertainment), and "International Love" (J/Sony Music Entertainment) by Pitbull featuring Chris Brown moved 23-13.
Admirers of the great Etta James will applaud the fact that her death last Friday (Jan. 20) prompted some immediate U.K. sales for "At Last" (MCA/Universal), her 1961 U.S. R&B smash. Never a British hit at the time, it had reached No. 69 in 2010 after being covered on "The X Factor," but now re-enters at No. 39 with nearly 7,000 new sales, to become only her second ever U.K. top 40 singles chart appearance, after a Diet Coke commercial-inspired reissue of "I Just Want To Make Love To You" took that gem to No. 5 in 1996. Another classic in her catalog, "Something's Got A Hold On Me," is sampled in Avicii's current top ten hit "Levels." James has never made the official top 75 of the U.K. album chart.

In a magazine pictorial highlighting the designer's new Los Angeles home, the stunning sexagenarian's physique steals the spotlight.
Designer Vera Wang, a style icon for her wedding dresses, recently bought a four-bedroom home in Beverly Hills.
The New Yorker insists she's not moving to Los Angeles full-time, but she's proud enough of her new digs to show them off in the February issue of Harper's Bazaar.
Her four-bedroom minimalist estate, with unobstructed views of Century City, is exhaustively documented by photographer Douglas Friedman in the magazine -- though you might find your attention drawn to Wang's choice of wardrobe. The 62-year-old mother of two posed in a swimsuit.

And the suit, a strapless one-piece from Parisian swimwear purveyors Eres, reveals a physique women half Wang's age would probably envy.
"The next thing I knew, I was there in a swimsuit," Wang told the magazine of her initially modest intentions for the poolside shoot. "The funny thing is that I'm the girl who no one sees at the beach. Ask anyone who's traveled with me. Normally, I'm in so many layers, I look like Lawrence of Arabia."
Even after seeing the finished product, Wang remained humble about her impressive figure.
"I'm a little horrified," she admitted, "But I still love that bustier."

The Bottom Line
It’s another steamy hot Brooklyn summer, but unlike “Do the Right Thing” two decades back, Spike Lee’s sermonizing new film is too chaotic to tap into that sizzle.
Spike Lee's return to rough-and-ready independent filmmaking is not the invigorating creative shot in the arm that the director's admirers might have wished for.
PARK CITY – There’s been much talk in the buildup to Sundance about Spike Lee revisiting, with Red Hook Summer, the guerilla-style independent filmmaking terrain where he began. But this strange, unruly beast of a movie – self-financed and shot in three weeks on a meager budget – appears to have been less of a liberation than a minefield for the director, encouraging him to indulge his weakness for bombastic bloat.
In the loosest possible sense, this is a companion piece to Do the Right Thing, set in another Brooklyn neighborhood where Mookie, Lee’s character from that 1989 breakthrough, is still delivering Sal’s Famous Pizzas more than 20 years later. The far more disciplined earlier film simmered with tensions that erupted in the explosive final act. But Lee’s latest rambles through almost two hours of unfocused drama, burdened with endless didactic editorializing, before lurching out of nowhere into ugly revelations and violence.
PHOTOS: 10 of Sundance's Buzzing Films That Will Sell
While the film is thematically confused, at heart it’s a coming of age story about Flick (Jules Brown). A preteen private-school student, he is sent against his wishes from his comfortable Atlanta home to spend the summer in a Red Hook housing project with the grandfather he’s never met. That would be Bishop Enoch Rouse (Clarke Peters), a fulminating Baptist preacher determined to deliver the Lord to his sullen grandson. Why this extended visit seemed like a good idea to Flick’s mother (De’Adre Aziza) is a mystery given her icy-cold rapport with the Bishop.
Conscripted to go help fix up the under-attended church, Flick finds some salvation in his friendship with feisty young congregation member Chazz (Tony Lysaith). Her mother (Heather Alicia Simms) is a church trustee who has long been fishing for a marriage proposal from the evasive Bishop Enoch.
As Flick gets to know the neighborhood, documenting his discoveries on his iPad, Lee and co-screenwriter James McBride stuff talking points into the mouths of their characters. These include encroaching gentrification; the decimation of African American neighborhoods by drugs, crime and AIDS; street gangs; impotent police; unemployment; income inequality; healthcare; the elation of seeing a black man elected President, and the disillusionment over the promised change that never materialized.
PHOTOS: The Scene at Sundance
Some of this is embedded in the impassioned sermons of Bishop Enoch, delivered by the remarkable Peters with an internal fire that blows everyone else off the screen. But elsewhere, the preachy agenda is inserted far less seamlessly.
The film takes a head-spinning narrative turn when a secret from Enoch’s past surfaces during Sunday service. But the complete absence of any kind of foreshadowing makes this switch to a more disturbing consideration of sin and redemption seem like part of another movie, not an organic continuation of what’s come before.
Stylistically, this is not Lee’s most coherent work. He lays high-volume music – primarily Bruce Hornsby’s plonking piano pieces, Judith Hill’s soul vocals and some traditional spirituals – under almost every scene. Together with the tendency to shout much of the dialogue, this makes the film strident and cacophonous. Having scenes run on and on doesn’t help alleviate the bludgeoning effect, though some further adjustment of the sound mix might help.
SUNDANCE Q&A: Spike Lee Talks 'Red Hook Summer,' His Festival Debut
While deep affection for the neighborhood is evident, the visuals are a mixed bag. Inconsistencies of light and texture are only sometimes justified by switching to the view field of Flick’s iPad.
Peters and one or two others in the cast do creditable work, notably Nate Parker as a local gang leader. (Among the ensemble, there’s a brief appearance from Isiah Whitlock Jr. as a cop, and a handful of alumni from the Broadway production of Passing Strange, which Lee captured on film.) But the performances generally lean toward the self-conscious and shrill. If the overall result weren’t so messy, one might almost wonder if Lee weren’t directing his actors to play it broadly as a dig at Tyler Perry.

Speaking at the festival's daily Cinema Cafe series, Dodd said the tech community's ability to mobilize the public was a game-changing phenomenon that he hadn't seen in more than three decades in public office.'
Monday morning, as part of the Sundance Film Festival's daily Cinema Café speaker series at the Filmmaker Lodge, New York Times writer David Carr moderated a wide-ranging discussion with MPAA chairman Christopher Dodd, independent producer Christine Vachon and NATO president John Fithian. While many issues relating to exhibition and independent film made the agenda, Dodd was the first to address "the elephant in the room," as he put it: the SOPA and PIPA legislation designed to combat online piracy that was recently derailed by an unprecedented public outcry.
"It's a watershed event, what happened," Dodd admitted, noting that opponents' "ability to organize and communicate directly with consumers" was a game-changing phenomenon that he hadn't seen in more than three decades in public office. Fithian agreed, saying that the turnaround in November was "the greatest backlash I've ever seen. This was historic."
Dodd seemed to have a sense of humor about the recent beating he's taken as spokesman for the mainstream entertainment industry, the kind of "chaos" that the former Senator had hoped to leave behind when he left office in January 2011. "Up until a week ago I thought that was a pretty good decision," he joked. But the message Dodd most seemed to want to get across was that "the white noise has
made it impossible to have a conversation about this," he said. "We've gotta find a better way to have that conversation than we have in the last two weeks."
He seemed genuinely distressed that while the underlying issue of combating piracy is one everyone can agree on, a hyperbolic "hysteria" was stirred up that convinced people they would lose freedom of speech or the internet would be broken if the legislation passed. Dodd claimed that a discussion about "unintended consequences" was valid, as well as other concerns, but that those issues will not be addressed positively in the current climate. To illustrate the point, Fithian noted that his son angrily asked him why he was trying to take away his Internet.
Meanwhile, the audience was treated to a variety of concrete examples of independent filmmakers affected by theft. Carr admitted that his daughter had illegally burned Drive not long ago, even as he had gone to a downtown theater to see the same film, and during the Q&A indie filmmaker Adam Lipsius (16-Love) voiced his frustration with the "hundreds of thousands" of illegal downloads through Bit Torrent that had sapped his film and its backers of any shot at a profit.
There was some back and forth about how best to combat piracy, with some in the audience advocating a strategy that supplies more content in new, affordable avenues to undercut the temptation to steal, and Fithian arguing that cheap-prices-up-front approaches such as Netflix streaming and $1 Redbox kiosks are "bad business models."
On another front, much discussion involved how independent filmmakers could get their films on movie screens, and how arthouse theater owners can successfully make the expensive transition to digital equipment. One developing strategy that both Vachon and Fithian seemed to endorse was a more direct transaction between filmmakers and arthouse theater owners. Once all those one-and-two-screen theaters make the conversion to digital, 21st century filmmakers can cut print costs by 90 percent and simply cut a deal with the individual theater to deliver the film digitally.

The actor, who got his big break on a short-lived, eponymous sketch show on MTV/Fox, has signed on to star, direct and executive produce All Talk, a new HBO comedy pilot from novelist Jonathan Safran Foer (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Everything is Illuminated).
The project, which is being billed as “politically, religiously, culturally, intellectually and sexually irreverent,” revolves around the daily and life-altering dramas of a Jewish family in Washington, DC. Emmy winner Alan Alda is currently in negotiations to join Stiller in front of the camera, marking what would be his first series regular role since M*A*S*H. The pilot is tentatively scheduled to shoot this fall.

Stiller and Foer, along with Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, will serve as executive producers; Foer has penned the pilot script. The project is something of a reunion for Stiller and Rudin, who have collaborated on several projects, including Zoolander and The Royal Tenenbaums as well as theBroadway revival of John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves
"Ben Stiller continues to be a major, multi-talented star because of his discerning ability to embrace creative and innovative projects - whatever the medium," said HBO’s president of programming Michael Lombardo. "From major blockbuster motion pictures to small independent films; from Broadway to off-Broadway, the common thread is always the excellence of the material.”

In November, Stiller's shingle Red Hour Films inked an overall production and development deal with ABC Studios. The pact, which runs through May 31, 2013, with an option to extend for one year, accompanied the high-profile hire of Deborah Liebling to run Red Hour's new television division.
For his part, Rudin has a string of projects set up at HBO, including Aaron Sorkin's cable news drama series Newsroom and The Corrections, an adaptation of Jonathan Franzen's best-seller with Ewan McGregor, Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest.

Iran's Oscar hopeful "A Seperation" wins best foreign film.
STOCKHOLM - Lisa Aschan's powerful feature debut She Monkeys, the story of two teenage athletes locked in a physical and pschological battle, won best film at Sweden's Guldbagge Awards, the country's top film honors.
OUR EDITOR RECOMMENDS
'She Monkeys' Director Lisa Aschan Hands Back Stockholm's $730,000 Grant
The Making of Iran's Oscar Hopeful, 'A Separation'
Aschan and Josefine Adolfsson shared the best screenplay honor and Andreas Franck also picked up the Guldbagge for best sound for his She Monkeys' score.
But the best director nod went to Ruben Ostlund for his crime drama Play. His camerman, Marius Dybwad Brandrud, also got the best cinematography nod.
Veteran Swedish performer Sven-Bertil Taube won best actor for his role as a widower battling his children over their inheritance in Richard Hobert's A One-way to Antibes. Ann Petren took best actress for her starring turn in the drama Happy End from director Bjorn Runge.
The WWII period drama Simon and the Oaks, which led the Guldbagge nominations with a record 11, went home with just two: with Cecilia Nilsson and Germany's Jan Josef Liefers sweeping the supporting acting categories. Another period piece, the 1980s-set drama Crown Jewels, won three Guldbagge trophies in technical categories.
Another multiple winner was the found footage documentary The Black Power Mixtapes, 1967-1975, which examines the American black power movement and which picked up Guldbagge awards for best music and best editing.
Asghar Farhadi's A Seperation, Iran's best foreign language Oscar hopeful, won the Guldbagge in the same category.

"Viavia" will be the Oscar-nominated filmmaker's first full-length project in 36 years.
ROME – Italian animator Bruno Bozzetto, best known for his political satires and his hapless reoccurring character Signor Rossi, on Monday announced plans for his first full-length feature project in 36 years.

Bozzetto, who was nominated for an Oscar in 1991 for his short film Grasshoppers -- a film seen as a precursor to the popular insect-themed animated films of the late 1990s, Bugs Life and Antz -- said his next project will be called Viavia, which could loosely be translated as “Gogo.”
The animated film will be set in a future where traffic problems are far worse than today. In the story, the “Viavia” is an invention that allows people who move around despite the debilitating traffic.
Bozzetto 73, said the project already has the backing of Italy’s Ministry of Culture, and he claims co producers from Canada, France and Germany have all expressed interested in the project. But he said his dream would be to work with Pixar Studios in California, though not specifically on this project.
STORY: THR's Animation Roundtable
“Everything Pixar does is top notch and great fun,” Bozzetto said in a story published on Quotidiano.net, a network of regional Italian newspapers. “I met [Pixar Chief Creative Officer] John Lasseter and it was very touching to find out that he knew my films. He invited me to speak to his Pixar colleagues. I’d like to collaborate with them on a creative project, at the stage where stories are born. It’s a dream of mine.”
Bozzetto did not say when work on Viavia would start or when the film would be released.

It's a well-known fact that chef Anthony Bourdain and Paula Deen are not best friends — or friends at all. But when it comes to slamming Paula after her announcement that she has type 2 diabetes, Anthony's not going to do it. But he does have a problem with her endorsing a diabetes drug as a result of her diagnosis.
OK! NEWS: PAULA DEEN HAS TYPE 2 DIABETES — 'IT'S NOT A DEATH SENTENCE'
In an interview on Monday with Eater, Anthony was questioned about what he thought of Paula's announcement that she has diabetes.
"Clearly this has been coming for a while. She's been looking for ways to position herself," Anthony said. "Is she really going to be selling the cure now? Or will she back off for a decent interval? I take no pleasure in it. There ain't nothing funny about diabetes."
However, Anthony doesn't agree with Paula reportedly endorsing drug-maker Novo Nordisk, USA Today reports. The Food Network star, 64, is reportedly using their drug Victoza to treat her diabetes.
OK! NEWS: PAULA DEEN RESPONDS TO ANTHONY BOURDAIN'S CRITICISM — "GET A LIFE"
"When your signature dish is hamburger in between a doughnut, and you've been cheerfully selling this stuff knowing all along that you've got type 2 diabetes... It's in bad taste if nothing else," Anthony, star of the Travel Channel's No Reservations and The Layover.
To perhaps further his point, Anthony Tweeted on Tuesday night, "Thinking of getting into the leg-breaking business, so I can profitably sell crutches later."

There’s a very good possibility, that by the end of the month, Kerry Katona could be declared bankrupt - again.
The reality TV star – who was previously declared bankrupt back in 2008 - has a £70,000 tax bill that needs paying and to make matters worse she still owes her former management £350,000 in unpaid commission.
Now we don’t know much about money, but how the hell do you run up a £70,000 tax bill? Surely you get paid money for the work you’ve done and you put a percentage aside to pay your taxes at the end of the year. No? Well whatever the case we’re just glad we’re not in Kezza’s shoes right now.

It’s been reported (for the millionth, trillionth time) that Angelina Jolie has an ickle bun in her oven.
Sources close to Hollywood's golden couple claim:
“It’s not something she wants to officially announce but she’s at a point where she is telling a select group of people.”
Hmmm, we’ve heard this rumour too many times before to get excited, but nevertheless the source added:
“Angelina is really savouring every moment. She’s having a tough time with morning sickness, but says it’s all worth it.”
Brangelina have made no secret of the fact they plan to expand their brood so we guess there’s a good chance this rumour could be true, but like we said before, we’ve heard it too many times to get excited.
Plus, she didn’t look even the slightest bit preggo at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, not that that really proves anything, as it could be early stages, but still.

Good morning sunshine – well, in LA anyway! Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning looked the picture of summer as they stepped out at the Rodarte dinner at the Chateau Marmont restaurant last night. While Kirsten Dunst went tailored wearing brocade trousers and a yellow blazer, Elle Fanning rocked the folk fashion trend in a printed peasant dress – both Rodarte designs, obvs! Yellow is one of this season’s hottest colours, appearing on the designer catwalks of fashion designers including (deep breath) Issey Miyake, Louis Vuitton, Matthew Williamson, Missoni, Oscar de la Renta and Sonia Rykiel. They’ve certainly brightened up our dreary Thursday morning – good work, girls! HE

Blake Lively dazzled on the red carpet yesterday in a Dolce & Gabbana silver sequin and wool dress as she attended the film screening of Haywire, starring Ewan McGregor, in New York. Despite the freezing weather conditions, Blake gave us a lesson in glam dressing by mixing several textures – sequins, wool, ribbed tights and velvet shoe boots. The ensemble may have been sleeveless, but we already feel warm just looking at those ribbed tights and gorgeous velvet booties. We're taking note, Miss Lively, our ribbed tights will be getting an airing this weekend! RS

Wasting our life on pop culture blogs and gossip sites, so you don't have to.
Getting older and wiser sucks sometimes, particularly because you're increasingly conscious of what an immature bonehead you used to be. This week, it's the turn of megastar rapper, Beyonce-marrier and brand-spanking-new father, Jay-Z, to cringe about sexist lyrics he rapped in the past.
As www.nme.com reports, a poem said to be penned by the rapper to his one-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, is doing the rounds on the net. In it, he raps for the record: "Before I got in the game, made a change, and got rich/I didn't think hard about using the word bitch/I rapped, I flipped it, I sold it, I lived it/Now with my daughter in this world I curse those that give it".
He adds, "No man will degrade her, or call her name. I'm so focused on your future, the degradation has passed. I wish you wealth, health and insight. Forever young you may pass. Blue Ivy Carter, my angel".
Let's remember that the word "bitch" has been offensive to women long before Jay-Z had a baby daughter. However, I'm all for a few less bitches in our vernacular, and it's strangely endearing to witness rappers get old and sentimental.
Plus this isn't the first time Jay-Z has admitted he's embarrassed by certain vintage lyrics of his. A year ago he told the Wall Street Times, "Some lyrics become really profound when you see them in writing. Not "Big Pimpin."...I can't believe I said that. And kept saying it. What kind of animal would say this sort of thing? Reading it is really harsh."
Just to make us all feel a bit more smug about the dorkish stuff we were spouting 10 years ago, let's take a look at Big Pimpin'. In case you don't remember, the most romantic bit goes:
"Many chicks wanna put Jigga fist in cuffs
Divorce him and split his bucks
Just because you got good head, I'ma break bread
so you can be livin it up?"
Aw! It's okay! We've all said stupid things in the past. It's just that we didn't rap them in a mega-successful hit single that instantly became the ringtone of choice for an entire generation of wannabe jerks. Unlucky, Mr Z...
Sharon Osbourne Update: Still Having Sex
That's right! Since you've been stressing about this question for years, I can finally put you out of your misery: Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are still at it. "We make love all the time," she says. "We used to do it five times a week. I take breaks from my chat show to have sex." Huh! To think we're making tea in the ad breaks...
Hackers, Ashton Kutcher Is Going To Hunt You Down Like Dogs
Well, not quite. But we've been enjoying the Twitter to-do since confirmed twaddict Kutcher had his account hacked the night of the Golden Globes, as E! reports. "I'm coming for you my friend," Kutcher tweeted in a caption, followed later by a "Ok mr hacker, you only made one mistake. You hacked my Foursquare and I now know your address. Whoops...This is gonna be fun."
This scenario sound like a pitch for the worst inflight-entertainment movie ever.

Instead of writing a blog about what I've been up to, I wanted to talk about something more important, something less trivial and, seeing as though it's Fostering & Adoption Week for Barnardo's, I felt that this is what we should all take a minute to remember.
I was honoured to have been asked to become an ambassador last year for Barnardo's. Children can be in the most vulnerable and disadvantaged places there can possibly be. Children are fragile and through no fault of their own be in situations that are heartbreaking. Barnardo's is the UK's leading children's charity, with over 100 years of experience in placing children with families. They have always provided me with the information that I needed to understand the work they do. And I've learned a lot already.
When people think about children in care they generally think of babies and toddlers. But what many of us forget is that children can be in care up to the age of 18. And what many people also may not know is that there is a real shortage of carers for older children. This is why Barnardo's are currently encouraging people to come forward to foster children - particularly children over the age of 10. It's important that the needs of older children are met. Older children can have different experiences to younger ones - they are less likely to be adopted, more likely to be in care for shorter periods of time and be in and out of care a number of times. For example, nearly half of 10-15-year-olds leave care within eight weeks and two-thirds are looked after for less than six months.
There's a worrying shortage of foster families across the UK at the moment. We desperately need to find nearly 9,000 new foster families over the next 12 months. So I hope that anyone reading this who would like to do something really worthwhile this year will consider fostering.
Barnardo's will tell you exactly what's involved, how to prepare your home and family, and provide tailored support and training for those who go on to become foster carers.
Every child needs a home, someone who understands them and, like every other child in this country, they need someone to look after them. I often leave my Barnardo's visits shaking my head because no young person should have to deal with what these kids deal with. It breaks my heart when I hear their stories. If for even a second when reading this you've thought about it then please get in touch.
The number to call if you think you might make a good foster parent and just want to find out more is 08000 277 280 or you can go to the Barnardo's website which gives you practical information like the fact that you need a spare room to foster a child.

The setting of Heathrow's arrivals lounge was slightly less glamorous than the plush ballroom where they'd previously shared a lingering kiss at a Hollywood awards ceremony.
But Kate Winslet and boyfriend Ned RocknRoll still looked loved up as they arrived in Britain after the actress' triumph at the Golden Globes.
They strolled through the lounge beaming at waiting photographers, with Ned's arm lovingly draped around his leading lady's shoulder.
At Sunday’s glittering ceremony, the mum-of two picked up a trophy for her title role in TV drama Mildred Pierce.
And her beau couldn't have been prouder as he gave her a congratularory kiss.
Kate, 36, and Ned have been inseparable since they met at his uncle Richard Branson's idyllic hideaway, Necker Island.
Part of the attraction for the actress is clearly the 33 year-old's fun-loving approach to life.
Formerly Ned Abel Smith, he changed his name by deed poll in 2008 to Ned RocknRoll "as a fun reminder to make sure every moment of every day is spent wisely and enjoying life".
Their union comes a year after Ned, who works at Virgin Galatic, his uncle's space travel project, split from his wife, aristocrat Eliza Cowdray.
Faithful to Ned's colourful style, their wedding celebration, which was featured exclusively in HELLO!, took place over two ceremonies. A barefoot service on Necker Island was followed by another celebration at the bride's sprawling £25-million family estate.
The dress code included "flamboyant trousers" for the men, and the ceremony was overseen by a shaman and ended with the entire wedding party sharing a "hug of love".

The dust has settled over this year's Golden Globes, but the ceremony seems to have revived the feud between Elton John and Madonna.
Elton's partner, David Furnish has stepped into the spat that ignited after her song Masterpiece triumphed over the elder statesman of pop's offering Hello Hello.
Writing on Facebook, David said: "Madonna. Best song???" Her winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit."
He added: "Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it's narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is".
Speaking backstage at ceremony after her rival inaccurately predicted she "had no chance of winning", Madonna was diplomatic.
"I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years," she teased. "He's been known to get mad at me so I don't know."
"He's brilliant and I adore him so he'll win another award. I don't feel bad!"
The feud between the two music heavyweights dates back to 2004 when the Rocket Man singer accused his fellow chart-topper of lip-synching during her live shows.

There was a fashion face off on Wednesday as Hollywood's most promising youngsters pulled out all the style stops in daring, dramatic gowns.
Leading the pack at the People’s Choice Awards was Vanessa Hudgens, who looked gorgeous in a webbed black Jenny Packham maxidress with a sheer panel that showed off the plunging neckline.
The 23-year-old former Disney star teamed the stunning creation with gold leaf earrings and smoky eyes.
Demi Lovato, meanwhile, looked equally lovely in a peach hued, crystal adorned full-length gown by Marchesa which flaunted her impressive curves.
Her simple up-do and crystal clutch completed the elegant look.
Glee star Lea Michele looked to be taking inspiration from the 1920s in her white, full-on fringed number by Marchesa.
Paired with neon pink lips and brash gold accessories, Lea gave the vintage look a modern twist.
Other famous faces in attendance had opted for more simple ensembles. Miley Cyrus showed off her impressive physique in a white David Koma dress with low key detailing that lent a high fashion edge.
And Emma Stone, who picked up two trophies, gave a masterclass in androgynous styling with her green tuxedo jacket and skinny black trousers.

Celebrity Big Brother 2012 housemate Andrew Stone has been branded “deluded” by his fellow celebs for apparently thinking he’ll become a judge on The X Factor.
The Pineapple Dance star previously revealed how he had auditioned for the show but was rejected by the judges.
“I got in front of Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh and they just annihilated me,” he admitted.
However Natalie Cassidy branded him “deluded” for thinking he’ll end up being a judge on the show.
“I think he is quite deluded,” she said about the dancer behind his back. “He thinks he is going to be a judge on X Factor.”
