Madonna has broken down in tears of exhaustion after admitting the strain of her live comeback next month has got the better of her.
The steely pop queen cracked as she spoke about her mother while promoting new flick W.E. in New York.
‘I’m sorry if I cry. I’m just so exhausted from Super Bowl rehearsals,’ she said during the screening at the city’s Ziegfeld Theatre.
Seemingly as shocked as everyone else by her waterworks, Madge admitted: ‘I’m not usually a very sentimental person. Don’t hold it against me.’
Her tears flowed as she remembered her late mother, Madonna Louise, who died from breast cancer at the age of 30 in 1963.
‘This movie is about the journey of a woman’s soul. I want to thank my mother,’ she sputtered, pausing for a moment before adding, ‘for giving me my life.’
Madonna revealed she will be using pom-poms in a cheerleader-themed performance when she hits the stage at half-time of the American football final in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 5.
Set to be watched by 162million people, the superstar added: ‘I have eight minutes to set up my stage, 12 minutes to put on the greatest show on Earth and seven minutes to take it down so the football field is clean for the second half.
‘That’s the challenge. How do you do that? I wanted to have 100 drummers come from the ceiling.’
The singer remained coy over rumours that she will be joined by Nicki Minaj and M.I.A, who feature on her new single, Give Me All Your Luvin.
Happy to tease, the 53-year-old said: ‘I am not saying “Yes” and I am not saying “No”.’
The track is an appetiser to her first album in four years, called M.D.N.A.
Madge dragged her 24-year-old toy boy, Brahim Zaibat, out for the first time publicly for her blubbing film night in the Big Apple this week.
