But the biggest fright didn't occur on set – it was meeting his girlfriend's folks for the first time.

The actor recently took his missus Rosie Coker's parents to lunch.

Speaking on tonight's Graham Norton Show, he reveals: "It was a uniquely nerve-wracking experience. She wasn't there. It was lovely but at the end of it I did have to ask, 'Have I passed?'

"We are still going out so I guess it was all OK."

He must have got on pretty well with her old man – he's already borrowing his jumpers.
