THE cast of hit show Glee have paid moving tribute to tragic star Whitney Houston with a tear-jerking rendition of I Will Always Love You.

Sung by Mercedes (Amber Riley), the ballad forms part of a special Valentine's episode where Glee Club members are tasked with performing the world's greatest love songs.

As one third of Season 3's biggest love triangle, Mercedes belts out the soulful classic to current boyfriend Shane, would-be man Sam and the rest of the Glee Club.

Both men are left in tears — and you'll be hard-pushed to stay dry-eyed — as the song's finale moves to the McKinley High stage and Mercedes sings just for Sam while dressed in a floor-length red satin gown.

Show bosses planned the song's inclusion in the episode months ago and it is only by tragic coincidence it aired just days after Whitney's untimely death aged 48.

The clip has struck a chord with Gleeks and Whitney fans alike — over 600,000 people have viewed the clip on YouTube and it was the most shared video in the world yesterday as people posted the tribute on Facebook and Twitter.

I Will Always Love You — from hit film The Bodyguard — was Whitney's biggest chart success, shifting over four million copies in America alone upon release in 1992.
Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson also performed the song at last Sunday's Grammy Awards — just one day after Whitney was found dead in the bath at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

But fans seem to prefer Amber Riley's version.

YouTube user Wallamindiller commented: "This was way better than Jennifer Hudson's tribute to Whitney at the Grammy's. Just sayin'." His is the top comment attached to the clip with over 1100 Likes.

Beeasybek10 loved the Glee tribute too, gushing: "Someone just go ahead and give Amber a record deal."
